Southern Districts Rugby Club, often referred to as 'Southern Pirates' has a proud and strong history within the Victoria Rugby Union community. Our club was formed in 1972 and has provided a local playing environment in both junior and senior rugby union since this time.

Our club was originally formed after interested parties met following a message in the Public Notices of the local newspaper. The Club was originally named “Skye Frankston” and was allocated a playing ground off Frankston-Dandenong Road in Lyndhurst - See Constitution here.

Our club`s name changed to “Frankston Rugby Union Club” and was relocated to Worland Park in Karingal

Our club relocated to Centenary Park on McClelland Drive in Frankston

Our latest move to our present grounds at Riviera Reserve, Eel Race Rd, Seaford. Since that move we have undergone yet another name change to “Southern Districts Rugby Club” but still proudly wear the royal blue and gold!

Today our club is proud to boast some of the finest on and off field facilities, coaches and support staff in Victoria. Registered Players compete in a total of 12 age groups from under 6s to Senior Grade (Including Masters). Our club is also well represented in Victoria state rugby with a number of our junior teams making the finals and our Under 14’s team winning the Premiership in the 2017 season.

Southern Districts' senior program is currently undergoing a rebuilding phase and competes in the newly formed Premiership Competition. In coming years we anticipate a re-entry in to the Premier Division which is the highest division of rugby union in Victoria.
